They Arrived! - Address Lock Down Warning

Hey Everyone,

The first set of Fidgets have arrived! 

This means for those of you in the first tier of shipping will have your address locked down on BackerKit, I will be locking them down June 3rd. This means you cannot change them.

You have two days to check or update your address to make sure its correct. You can re-enter your survey by clicking the original link that was emailed to you, or going to https://five-dollar-fidget.backerkit.com/ and entering your Kickstarter email. This is not a requirement, this is only if you need to change it, or you think you may have entered it incorrectly.  So check if you want to!

People in the second tier, I will leave your addresses open in case people move or want to change the address, this only make sense. They will be locked at a later date. 

I need to get back to installing bearings.

A Week Behind - Shipping Delay + Cool Pneumatics

Hey Everyone,

I'm normally excited to post an update, but not today! 

The fidgets have been produced by the manufacturer(yay!), and in order to meet the May deadline I had them separate a specific amount(enough for the first tier of shipping) to be sent FexEx. FedEx costs a lot(a lot!) more and isn't feasible to do for all of them, so for the remaining they are shipped freight - which was always the plan. Imagine 800lbs of fidgets! Anyway, I was expecting this FedEx shipment to go out last week so that they would be in my hands to assemble this week, which would leave this week, the weekend, and then the final two days of May to send off the shipments. This, regrettably, is now not the case. The manufacturer wasn't able to make the date I had expected for shipping. They only shipped early this morning(6:45am my time).

 So right now the scheduled delivery is June 1st. Just great. That makes me pretty much exactly a week behind. 

I was hoping at the very least that they would have shipped last Monday and been able to arrive this Friday. I think I could have pulled it off if I had them for this weekend if I devoted every waking hour to it. I'm probably more restless than 99% of the backers to get these things shipped. All I wanted was to send them out by the end of May. I guess I can somewhat attribute the delay to the small(but very necessary) design change I had the manufacturer do to the caps. 

I hate lacking information to give to you all, but I prefer my updates to have actual information, like the shipping details in this case. You all are my main priority right now. I'm going to start locking down the addresses soon(probably not until the shipment arrives) because it allows me to more easily create the packing slips and packages for the known completed surveys. 

Some good news. 

I might have found some better shipping opportunities (from me to you) which may speed things up. If it works out, it will just happen(nothing required of backers), and people will probably get shorter shipping times. This may actually put everything back on schedule, but we will see. This doesn't affect the upgraded shipping option people chose, they will still get those upgrades. 

Also, the bearing installer works!

I always say this, but I know some of you are very anxious to see updates, I generally immediately post mini updates on my twitter and sometimes Instagram. Its a lot easier to suddenly post a "LOOK THE FIDGETS ARRIVED!" and a photo to my twitter when I am moving them out to my shop. I of course will then post something here later in the evening, but those few hours can be critical for some people!

Locking Down BackerKit Surveys

Its May already!?

Locking the surveys in 3.. 2.. 1.. Locked!

Today is May 1st and the surveys have been locked down. This means your current shopping carts/add-on settings cannot be changed. You will still be able to edit your address! The addresses will be locked when shipments are being created within the month of may.

Those of you who have added on extra items, changed to higher reward tiers, or gave tips and now have a balance owing on BackerKit, your cards will be charged tomorrow May 2nd 2017. Anyone who pledged the correct amount on Kickstarter for the reward they chose and have a balance owing of 0$ or less will not have any cards charged money.

Injection Mold Samples! BackerKit Lock Down May 1st.

The Fidget samples from my manufacturer have come in!

 The design looks great and I'm really happy with them. 

The bearing caps look good too, but I'm going to request a slight design change. They're slightly(half a mm) shorter than my prototypes which makes the balls precariously close to touching when you spin them on a table. I want more clearance. I don't expect this will cause any delays as its a small change, but its an unexpected change no less and should be noted. 

Reminder I will be locking down the BackerKit surveys May 1st 2017. This is the last reminder before it happens. Please ensure that your current address and order is correct. If you need to make changes, you don't need to contact me. You are able to get back into your survey using the link that was provided to your email address or going https://five-dollar-fidget.backerkit.com/ and entering your Kickstarter email. Please do so before they are locked.
