FAQ: Five Dollar Fidget Spinner
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

How will you know what add-ons I want if I am just adding money to the Pledge?

When the Kickstarter ends, all of the backers will be asked to do a survey. In this survey you will be asked what colour, shape, bearings, and if you want bearing caps. We will check to see if your pledge has enough funds to fit the selection. We will not be able to ship your order until the survey has been completed.

How do I select the Ceramic Bearing Option?

For each ceramic bearing you require add $2CAD to your pledge. If you’re a backer for 1 Fidget Spinner and you add $2CAD, you will receive 1 x ceramic bearing for your spinner. If you choose the 2 x spinner option and want 2 x ceramic bearings add $4CAD.

I’m considering making an option for a single spinner and ceramic bearing if its easier. Let me know in the comments.

What is a Ceramic Bearing, and why do I want it?

Inside of the bearing are small balls that allow it to spin. The most common bearings have steel balls in them. A Ceramic bearing will have tiny ceramic balls in them. They are harder and lower friction than steel. Ceramic bearings will spin faster, longer, and smoother. Some people really like their spinner to be as high performance as possible. This is not a requirement, more of a personal preference. If this is your first spinner I recommend just sticking with what it comes with(steel), and you can purchase and install a ceramic at a later date if needed.

How do I pick my colour?

After the Kickstarter has finished, each backer will be contacted through kickstarter to notify them of what colours are available, and ask which colour they would prefer.

In the event of no response from the person when their shipment date has come, a random colour will be chosen.

Why are the bearing caps an Add-on?

The Five Dollar Fidget Spinner has been a well thought out Kickstarter. All the of costs have been set in order to keep this project profitable. The reason the bearing caps were not on it in the first place is the cost of manufacturing a second part makes the project much more difficult. Now that the project has had a lot of backers, a second mold seems more feasible. The costs of the spinner will not be able to change, so the bearing caps will have to be an extra cost. Every decision in this Kickstarter has been painstakingly calculated to ensure its success.

Why is there two of each Reward?

With the ever increasing number of orders, I decided to add a limit on the May shipping orders, and add a second July Shipping Reward. Once all of the May Rewards are gone (400 backers) then the only option will be to choose the July Reward.

The Ceramic Bearing Reward is Unavailable, Can I get upgrade to Ceramic Bearings?

YES! The tier was removed because people were selecting it as their Reward which would result in that person not getting a fidget spinner. Kickstarter only allows one reward tier per person, if you want a Ceramic bearing you need to back a Fidget Spinner reward tier and then add $2 for each ceramic upgrade you want. Example: 1 Spinner? Add $2 — 2 spinners? Add $4 and so on.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
